Following up on yesterdays post with a family recipe.
I spoke of how to have a more mindful approach this holiday season, and what’s more comforting & cozy than a steaming hot cup of cocoa? Not much in my opinion. It’s the perfect treat for a day of self care
My dad used to make this old fashioned hot chocolate when I was a little girl. I remember sitting by the kitchen table with my mug, dunking grandma’s buttered bread in the chocolatey goodness. Sometimes he would plop a big dollop of whipped cream on top. Oh my, I’m getting all kinds of nostalgic over here!
Here’s how you can make an old fashioned cup of hot chocolate for yourself & your loved ones this christmas.
2 tablespoons cacao powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 dl double cream or any vegan option
8 dl boiling water
Start by mixing the cacao powder, sugar & cream into an even paste. Pour the water over the mixture and stir until everything is combined. For an extra festive touch – add a dash of cinnamon, cardamom & clove.
This makes enough to serve 4, but why not just grab an extra extra big cup just for you.
You’re totally worth it!
