Salt Dough Ornaments – Blogmas day 7

Twinkle, twinkle little star

Do you remember making salt dough figurines and hand prints in school?

Fun huh?

Here’s a grown up version for ya – try making your own ornaments, gift tags or place cards using this easy recipe:

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

1/2 cup boiling water

Mix together salt and flour. Stir in water until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until the dough is firm and workable – a bit like playdough. Roll out the dough using a rolling pin to your desired thickness, or about 1/4 inch. Cut out the shapes you like – I went for these cute stars. Don’t forget to make some tiny holes  if you want to be able to hang them on your tree or tie tem to your Christmas gifts.

I left my star ornaments to air dry for a couple of days, flipping them over once in a while. But, if you are short on time, you can also dry them in the oven on low heat.

Let me know if you try it, and tag me on Instagram so I can see what you make with it!
